Of course, I mean since I've been cycling as an adult. Justin and I
were headed south on the Cherry Creek Bike Trail on Saturday morning
around 7:45. Halfway to the Cherry Creek Resevoir, maybe 6 miles in,
we're going maybe 18-20 miles an hour, I must have been putting my
water bottle back in the holder, when I look up and there's a rather
large black lab parallel with my front wheel and crossing in front of
me.
There wasn't much I could do but hit the dog and fall over.
I fell to my left, over the dog, onto the pavement, then into the rocky
grass. For some reason, I didn't put my hands down, and for some
reason, I was wearing my heart-rate monitor even though I hadn't
brought my watch that monitors my heart rate. So i end up landing on my
face and chest. scraped up the left side of my face pretty good, the
friction between my heartrate monitor and the pavement tore some holes
in my jersey. And I got a pretty decent gash on the top of my right
thumb, seems like it was almost to the bone. That was dripping blood
quite a bit.
The dog's owner was mortified, offered to pay for
bike adjustments and a new jersey. He ran home and got me a towel,
water and bandaids.
I'll take him up on the cost of a new jersy for sure.
