I just got back late last night from a fantastic time at Lake Tahoe. My college buddy Gabe Knapp invited me for the 2nd year to help lead worship and do a concert for a singles conference there--primarily west coast people. It was crazy good. Kevin and Nancy Sullivan deepened us all with talks about Change--in our identity (do we really KNOW that we are God's kids?), in our plans (am I willing to live dangerously for God, or just play it safe?), in our focus (self absorption vs. living for God's glory in all things). The testimonies, small groups, fellowship, time with godly couples who came up as mentors, the BEAUTIFUL land and sky, the response of the people to God through the worship music...I loved it, and am so thankful for the time. Patti is hopefully coming with me next year! I had everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to her on a cell phone on Sunday to open my part of the concert. Good times.
I have alot of people to pray for--issues of loneliness and struggle, and healing, and wondering about next steps on many levels. I have alot of people and things to thank God for as well. I'm reminded what Father Stephen told me recently--work toward having a grateful, thankful heart at all times. It's amazing how that helps in times of struggle or wondering.
And, by the way, when you park your car in long-term parking at an airport, try to remember where you left it. Or, like me, you'll wander around w/ your luggage late at night for almost 40 minutes looking for it, beggging God for direction, confessing your stupidity, and hopefully laughing at yourself a little, too!
